Meetup #119 – What is 5G and Edge Computing?
November 19 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm$11.20
Canadians can anticipate a fast roll-out of 5G mobile networks starting in 2020 or 2021, according to industry experts. The fifth-generation of wireless technology, “5G”, will deliver ten times faster connections speeds, lower latency and the ability to connect more devices than ever before. With 5G networks we’ll get faster downloads, lower latency, and better performance on more devices including smart cars and Internet of Things (IoT).
What you will Learn
- What is 5G, how it works, and why it’s important
- Uses for 5G
- How 5G, Edge Computing and IoT interact to increase efficiency to reduce costs
- How to monitize 5G
- Why Edge Computing is predicted to have 10X the impact as Cloud has had over the last 10 years
Those able to extract the right business insights at the right time and the right place – edge or cloud – based on factors like cost and latency of the underlying business problem, will succeed in the future of 5G & IoT. So how do you determine what runs at the edge versus what runs in the Cloud?
