Canadians can anticipate a fast roll-out of 5G mobile networks starting in 2020 or 2021, according to industry experts. The fifth-generation of wireless technology, “5G”, will deliver ten times faster connections speeds, lower latency and the ability to connect more devices than ever before. With 5G networks we’ll get faster downloads, lower latency, and better performance on more devices including smart cars and Internet of Things (IoT).
Those able to extract the right business insights at the right time and the right place – edge or cloud – based on factors like cost and latency of the underlying business problem, will succeed in the future of 5G & IoT. So how do you determine what runs at the edge versus what runs in the Cloud?
