SiliconHaltonDayHaltonHive2016

Here's your opportunity to experience and experiment with co-working. Join fellow members at our monthly Silicon Halton Day at the coworking space Halton HiVE, Burlington.

Our ideas are products of our environment. They are influenced by the conversations around us.
- Clive Thompson, Contributing Editor, Wired Magazine

Random opportunities and discoveries that arise from interactions with others – play a large role in coworking
- from Working in the UnOffice from Night Owls Press

If you’ve experienced the favourable collisions, the random opportunities, that regularly occur during the short span of a Silicon Halton meetup, imagine the possibilities during a full day? Collisions are the probable interactions with other local tech businesses or professionals or ancillary tech services. These collisions routinely produce discoveries, economic and/or professional growth.

If you work in home office or small office, can you afford not to come?

Topic: Experimentation

We are kicking off this season with the theme of Experimentation, beginning with a look at the experimentation mindset - what is needed and why it's needed to succeed personally and professionally.

The Women in Tech Peer 2 Peer group’s goal is to empower women in business by examining the unique gender based challenges of working in and with technology to effect progressive change within our working and community environments.

Meet ups are generally for women only who work or live in Halton.  Non-Silicon Halton members are welcome.

Each month we'll have a topic for debate, and an opportunity for individuals to share challenges and successes with the group in a safe, supportive setting.

Meetup formats may include dinner discussion meetings, guest speaker presentations, or workshops - depending on the topic.

Are you a Halton based tech company that hires summer students?

Silicon Halton cares deeply about building opportunities for students within Halton region - making this a great place to live, work, and play.  After all, our core is about Technology, Community, and Growth.

With that in mind, we're looking for 30 Silicon Halton members / companies that may be hiring summer students this year - for projects, for internships, and/or for summer employment.  We'd like to help TU20’s gain experience pitching themselves and networking face-to-face.  Each member / company that participates will listen to all 30 second pitches individually, then spend 2 minutes in rapid Q & A with each student.  If you don’t have a current opportunity to offer, you’re still welcome to participate.  You never know when you might need one of these talented Halton students.

Silicon Halton Member / Company Experience From 2016

"When I attended the Tech Under Twenty Pitch Night last year I was truly impressed by the caliber of high school students that we had an opportunity to interview. It was a well organized event and in less than an hour I met several young people who conducted themselves very professionally. There were at least 3 or 4 students that I thought could make a contribution to our entrepreneurial organization over the summer months. In the end we settled on one who worked with our Marketing Department to update our website. I believe it was a mutually beneficial experience and would encourage other employers to get involved.
