Companies routinely tell us they wish they could source local tech service providers. A by-product of Silicon Halton has been wowcasing™ (showcasing a talent/company to solicit that "wow" response) talented service providers in our back yard. Meetup 41 provided an opportunity to showcase some of these providers. We are very greatful to the good folks at Burlington Economic Development Corp for Powering this event and making the new Burlington Performing Arts Centre available for this event.
Following the fun and roaring success of Meetup 37's Pitch Night, which saw pitches from hi tech business owners about their Halton companies & hi tech products, Meetup #41 was a Pitch Night for Halton Technology Service Providers. These are companies or solopreneurs who are applying technology vs. creating new technology/apps. Examples are:
- Web sites, online presence
- Custom development shops (non-product)
- Vertical specific consultants (e.g. CRM, ERP)
- Hosting providers
- Technology vendors
Slots were also allotted to ancillary service providers who focus on the technology vertical (e.g. Patent Lawyers, content providers) or vendors who utilize leading edge technology in the delivery of their services.
Our target was 10 pitches each from different types of providers. Each pitch is 1 - 2 minutes in length. No endless stream of Powerpoint slides - each pitcher will have one slide, displayed during their pitch. The slides contained their company name, service, logo and Twitter handle, so we know who we're voting for.
We voted, not necessarily on the best technology service, but rather, who best articulates their value proposition.
